Local tradition connects the Goddess’s earlier hill setting in Akurdi with roughly 450–500 years of devotion. This is not an exact foundation date for the present building.

The site is associated with Shri Morya Gosavi Maharaj’s devotional tradition. His spiritual practice by the Pavana river and the traditions of Chinchwad form the setting for these memories.

Chinchwad Devasthan tradition dates his Sanjeevan Samadhi to 1561. This relates to his life, not the establishment of the Akurdi temple. This account does not identify him as its founder.

A local legend recorded on the former website tells of a devotee who walked from Tuljapur and brought the Goddess to Akurdi. It is shared as a devotional story, not as a verified historical event or foundation date.
